How Did We Get Here: Stories of Migration and Home | Exhibition Opening

Thursday, October 22, 2026 (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM) (MDT)

Description

We will conclude 2026 with a community exhibition inviting artists and makers, both local and from afar, to submit work in any medium under the theme: 'How Did We Get Here? Stories of Migration and Home.' We encourage you to explore themes of movement, connection across time, migration routes, and the idea of home. Consider drawing from your own family history—journeys to and from the Moab Valley, throughout Utah, across the United States, or around the world. We invite creators of all backgrounds to submit work for an exhibition celebrating diverse interpretations of movement and home, with all entries reviewed by a community committee and the Museum reserving the right to decline submissions that fall outside our mission or disparage others. About the Semiquincentennial: The semiquincentennial is a chance for everyone to feel a part of this major milestone in our nation. We can celebrate courage, liberty, and sacrifice, while also reckoning with difficult truths. By fostering a sense of belonging and coming together with our local communities, we can ensure that Utahns of all ages and backgrounds see themselves in American history. This is our last exhibit for the year commemorating America's 250th! Thanks to all who have supported the work of the Museum, our mission to share stories, and for being part of something special here in Moab, UT.
